WHY I DON'T READ THE NEWS

Santa’s in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday. Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead.

One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.
- OK, I can’t take it…the world is crazy! Now, I’m no santa fan, but COME ON PEOPLE, “ho ho ho” is a term that’s been used for Europeans introduced santa to the world…now it’s a term associated with the defaming of women; this is completely laughable.

Teen Charged in Cop Shooting
16-year-old apparently squatting in a abandoned house-turned-drug den was identified yesterday as the alleged shooter who wounded two plain clothes narcotics officers Tuesday night. According to investigators he allegedly sold crack from the home. The teen is being charged as an adult with nine counts of attempted murder, was taken into custody after allegedly shooting two officers in the legs through a door as they tried entering the house to serve a warrant to another man.

- NOW, this makes the SECOND young black man who’s thrown their life away by shooting/killing a police officer. The other infamous young man (shown above) was a high-school dropout and drug addict.

- I’ve grown tired of being agitated and frustrated by the insidious acts practiced by our young people while the community watches and waits. WHAT ARE WE PREPARED TO DO! WHO’S ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE CONDITIONS! Every time I turn around a new “worthwild” organization is springing up and doing NOTHING! With all the non-profit do-gooder associations running around within the city of Philadelphia, why are we still faced with the SAME GROWING dilemma’s?

- Politicians don’t care; So called “Black Owned” businesses and corporations don’t seem to REALLY care (except for their OWN benefit), so who is to bring about the change? Where will the help come from? Yeah, I know…many questions with too few answers! I’m just “Debbie Morgan – TIRED”! (from Love and Basketball…when she tiredly exclaimed, “I’m just too TIRED”)

This an example of lack of education and ambition. If they would take the same energy and hustle doing something legal they could make more money. Hell if they just went to school and did some research they could learn to hide the money legally.

I agree with andrew. Something more needs to be done during the formative years of these children so that they KNOW their lives are too valuable to throw away to the system.

I'm still trippin' on the fact that he ended up in John Timoney's back yard. (Philly's one time top-cop, and now the cheif in miami.) He couldn't have picked a worse city to go to.

HECK YEAH... on both counts!!! NIC - HEY SHUGA!

You KNOW...I'm always talking about the importance of TRAINING our children BEFORE the problems start...THAT'S THE PROBLEM... the PARENTS need guidance.

Knewday, I don't like watching or reading the news. Yet, we must still do so and even go a step beyond to stay informed.

I have to say everyone gets trained as a child and it is the type of training we must pay attention to. I know kids trained to do illegal stuff like it was normal because the whole family was doing it. SMH.
Proper training of parents/kids is the key. So how do we do that?

This is both ridiculous and sad at the same time.

For me...the bottom line is it starts at home...PERIOD!!

I only watch the morning news on one particular station here, and that's because they add enough humor in between the tragic stories to make it digestable. Any other time, the news just gives me a migraine.

First off, I cracked the heck up about the Santa's not being able to say, "ho, ho, ho." Lmao, just saying, "ha,ha, ha" kills even my OWN Christmas spirit and makes Santa seem like a joke!
I am very disappointed in the ways that some our young people are behaving. Believe you me, I am a part of this generation and it saddens even me. But the problem is that young men and women don't have good role models to look up to. With the neglect of mothers and fathers and the lack of good parents, people my age look to celebrities and music to become their mothers and fathers which glorify violence, sex and drugs and no respect for authority. It makes me cringe knowing that so many big names in hip-hop know how much they influence young America today, and don't work to influence them in a good way! We do need more Martin Luther Kings and Malcom X's! But people nowadays are lazy! All I do is pray for change!
Holla!

As a former troubled teenager I understand the dilemma facing our youth. In a depraved governmental system that devalues its youth its difficult to find constructive things to do with their time. And since so many of our children have been labeled with learning disabilities and few programs to address this problem, we're faced with a difficult crisis. The answer is we need to go out and tutor our young men and women to read and develop the desire to learn. In previous times such as slavery, all the black population were labeled as learning disabled but they taught each other and that was the key to moving into freedom. Until we develop this desire in our youth, we will be forever plagued by this devastating disease called ignorance. I suggest to give of yourself in a local community center a cou[le hours a week and you can save one if not a few. :0)
